The US imposed new sanctions on Russia on the anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine war. The BBC reported this information in a report on Friday (February 24) night. The new sanctions include at least 90 companies, including various firms, banks, manufacturers, as well as several individuals and organizations of Russia and its allies.
The US says the sanctions list includes individuals and entities that have helped Russia evade previous sanctions. However, this time a team is being planned to prevent Russia from circumventing the sanctions through third parties.
Meanwhile, on the same day, the United States announced a new aid of 2 billion dollars to Ukraine. All of this support is arms and ammunition. On the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine war, a special session of the United Nations General Assembly was held on Thursday (February 23). There a resolution was passed to withdraw troops from Ukraine as well as end the war. 141 of the 193 members of the United Nations voted in favor of Ukraine in that resolution. Seven countries, including Russia, voted against the resolution.
32 countries, including Bangladesh and India, abstained from voting. Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that it was clear who was in favor of whom through the vote. Russia must stop its illegal aggression.
It should be noted that on February 24 of last year, Russian troops started attacking Ukraine on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Thousands of people died in this war on both sides. Millions of people have been displaced.
