China has accused the US of violating its airspace. China says the US has sent high-altitude balloons into its airspace more than 10 times since January 2022.
China's allegations come as the US shot down a Chinese spy balloon off the coast of South Carolina with its warplanes a few days ago.
What did China say?
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said, "The illegal entry of the United States into the airspace of other countries is nothing new. It has been flown many times." He told reporters that the United States should seek more information about these balloons entering Chinese airspace.
What about spy balloons?
Recently, a Chinese balloon was seen flying in America. China claimed it was a weather forecasting balloon and lost its course due to winds. At the same time, US officials said that this balloon is flying over many sensitive places in America. After that America shot down this balloon with its fighter jet. US national security adviser John Kirby said China has recovered some debris from the balloon from the sea surface. Divers have been lowered into the sea to search for the balloon. Two days earlier, the United States shot down a balloon. Then China made this comment. Kerby also said debris was scattered over several areas of the ocean. If necessary, the search will be carried out under the sea. Check out what's in the balloon.
The US Secretary of State's visit to China has been cancelled
It is good to know that China has expressed regret over the balloon incident. After this, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken canceled his visit to China. Also, after his discussion with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, he protested against the spy balloon incident. He told China that the Chinese balloon found in US airspace is a violation of US sovereignty and international law. Both countries agreed to continue talks.
What are spy balloons?
Spy balloons are similar to high altitude weather balloons, but the equipment differs. They are equipped with equipment like cameras and radar. They are difficult to detect by conventional radar and typically fly at altitudes of 80,000 to 120,000 feet. No plane can go that high. America has also taken the help of such balloons to keep an eye on its enemies.
