azi Nazrul Islam, also known as the Rebel Poet, was a prominent Bengali poet, writer, and musician. He was born on May 25, 1899, in Churulia village, Burdwan district of Bengal, India. Nazrul's literary works and compositions were heavily influenced by his experiences growing up in a poverty-stricken family and his later involvement in the Indian independence movement. In 1942, Nazrul was struck with an unknown illness, which left him physically and mentally incapacitated. He spent the next 25 years of his life in a state of near-total silence and isolation. It was only after the formation of Bangladesh in 1971 that he was rediscovered and given the recognition he deserved. He was posthumously awarded the title of National Poet of Bangladesh in 1972.

2 killed in Russian attack on Zaporizhia: Ukraine

  At least two people were killed in a Russian attack on an apartment building in the much-discussed Ukrainian city of Zaporizhia.
