Karachi Terror Attack: 10 militants enter Pakistan's Karachi police headquarters, 2 dead - open fire
After Peshawar in Pakistan, there has been a major terrorist attack in Karachi. 8 to 10 militants have entered Karachi police headquarters and are firing heavily. According to Pakistan's Geo News Channel, the Karachi Police has turned off all the lights in the office. Firing is being done from both sides. Apart from the headquarters, some militants also remained in a multi-storey building. The attack took place in Shahrah-e-Faisal area.
According to local media, these militants, who entered the Karachi police headquarters, have heavy explosives and weapons, with which they are carrying out continuous attacks. Militants were reportedly hurling hand grenades and firing automatic weapons at security forces. The area near the AIG office has been surrounded by Pakistan Rangers and police. Currently, two militants have been killed.
The militants first hurled half a dozen grenades at the main premises of the Karachi police chief's office building and then entered the premises. According to a police source, fierce exchange of fire is going on between the paramilitary forces, the police and the attackers. All mobile vans of the district and area have been immediately called to the spot to surround the attackers. The Karachi Police Chief's office is located near the city's main road leading to the airport.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said security forces freed three people from militants inside the five-storey building. He said the number of casualties could not be confirmed yet. Report coming. Shah said while directing the DIG, he said that the militant involved in the attack must be arrested. We will not accept such attacks at any cost. He said armed militants attacked the police headquarters around 7:30 pm.
Bilawal Bhutto condemned the attack
Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemned the attack. He tweeted, 'I condemn the terrorist attack on Karachi police headquarters. In the past also the Sindh Police bravely tackled the militants and defeated them. We have full confidence in our jawans that they will respond in kind again. Such cowardly attacks will not stop us.
