Russian President Vladimir Putin has suspended the nuclear arms control treaty with the United States. In his speech on Tuesday, he made it clear that he will not change his strategy on the Ukraine war. At the same time, he blamed the West for the Russia-Ukraine war.
However, Putin has insisted that Russia is not withdrawing from the nuclear deal. A few hours after his speech, the Russian foreign minister announced that they respect the nuclear deal. According to the previously signed agreement, they will continue to exchange information before the ballistic missile test.
According to the New Start Treaty signed between the two countries in 2010, the two sides had the opportunity to inspect each other's nuclear facilities in addition to limiting the amount of nuclear weapons. Putin said that if the United States starts nuclear tests, they will also test. As a result of his statement, there are fears of a resumption of nuclear tests, which were halted after the Cold War.
