A medical flight crashes in the United States, killing five. Patients are also among the dead. The plane crashed in the western US state of Nevada last Friday night (February 24) local time. In a report on Sunday (February 26), the news agency AP and the US media Washington Post reported this information.
According to the report, all five people on the medical flight, including a patient, were killed in a plane crash last Friday night in the northern Nevada mountains.The Lyon County Sheriff's Office said local authorities received reports of the plane crash near Nevada Stagecoach around 9:30 p.m. Friday, and the wreckage was recovered two hours later. A rural community of about 2,500 residents, Stagecoach is located approximately 45 miles (72 km) southeast of Reno.
Care Flight provides ambulance services by plane and helicopter, according to the Washington Post. The pilot, a flight nurse, a flight paramedic, a patient and a family member of the patient were among those killed in the crash, they said.
The US National Transportation Safety Board said on Twitter Saturday morning local time that it was sending a seven-member team of investigators to the crash site. The NTSB is expected to release more information at a news conference Sunday.Meanwhile, CARE Flight has identified the crashed aircraft as a Pilatus PC-12 aircraft. According to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) records, the aircraft was manufactured in 2002.
