14 people, including women and children, were killed when a bus fell into a ditch in Pakistan's Punjab. At least 64 people were injured in this incident. This incident took place in Kalar Kahar town of Chakwal district of Punjab on Sunday night. In a report on Monday, Pakistani media The Dawn reported this information.
Chakwal Deputy Commissioner Kuratulain Malik told Dawn that the bus, which was traveling back from Islamabad to Lahore after a wedding ceremony, was passing through Akabanka Pass on the highway when it brake-failed and hit two vehicles coming from the opposite direction. When the bus fell into the ditch, there was a loss of life.
According to rescue workers and police, 12 passengers died on the spot and two others died at the hospital after the road accident. Besides, the driver of the bus was also killed in this tragic accident. Six seriously injured passengers were taken to Rawalpindi. This is the fourth major road accident in Pakistan in less than two months.
The country's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the incident and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families of the victims. He directed the authorities to provide best medical facilities to the injured and wished them a speedy recovery.
